Counts Toward 30 CE Credit Hours
Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a 30 hour Continuing Education Certificate for license renewal in the state of Massachusetts at no extra cost. Certificate is valid for 5 years from date of completion.
This sixteen week course prepares the student for the 2nd & 1st Class Engineer license exam to operate or manage steam power plants.
Course outline:
1– Math, simplified physics, chemistry & thermodynamics
2– Combustion, metallurgy & chemical treatment
3– Power plant calculations (efficiency, heat rate, steam rate, horsepower, steam pipe sizing , heat recovery and blow down equipment sizing and a lot more)
4– Construction, operation, repairs and maintenance of boilers, steam turbines, gas turbines, and generators.
5– Pump principles, selection, application and maintenance
6- ASME applicable codes, NBIC and related Massachusetts codes, Laws and regulations
7– Practices on verbal exams.
8– Water treatment
9– Turbines, condensers and generators
Graduation Requirements:
70% passing grade and 90% attendance
