Power Plant Operator, 1st Class Fireman
(Advanced Boiler Operator/Steam Engineering)
48 Clock Hours (Must already be in the profession to be eligible for this course)
Objective:
Students will be prepared for the 3rd class Engineer license exam or the 1st class Fireman exam to operate steam power plants. Upon completion of this course, students will receive 30-hour Continuing Education Certificate for license renewal in Massachusetts.

1– Steam use and applications
2– Basic math
3– Fuel and combustion
4– Burners and controls
5– Boiler construction, operation and maintenance
6– Steam traps, and heating systems
7– Water treatment
8– Turbines, condensers and generators
9- National and Local Codes & Regulations pertaining to boilers and pressure vessels.
Graduation Requirements
70% passing grade and 90% attendance
